Best CD Rate Update - Top CD Rates by Term

The top rate for a certificate of deposit (CD) this week is at Pentagon Federal Credit Union (fondly known as PenFed CU) where you can get a 7-year certificate that currently pays 4.00% APY.

For shorter terms, UmbrellaBank.com has a 1-year CD with a 2.15% annual percentage rate.

Last month (8/6/09), NewDominionDIRECT had the best 1-year CD rate at 2.05%

The one year US Treasury rate is currently 0.40%, down 7 basis points from 0.47% last month.
